The suspension was ordered on the instruction of state Congress in charge Shakeel Ahmad, party spokesman Shailesh Sinha told IANS.

Lakra surrendered Tuesday in a Ranchi court and was sent to 14 days judicial custody. He has been accused of killing Avinash Tiwari of Garwah district.

Tiwari went missing under mysterious circumstances April 26. His body was found in Khuti district this month.

The victim’s father alleged that Lakra, legislator from Khijri, abducted and tortured his son because he (Tiwari) wanted to marry his daughter.

Police say the legislator’s daughter has admitted she knew Tiwari.

The official bodyguard of Lakra admitted to police that Lakra ordered the killing of Tiwari. The vehicle used to dump the body has been seized.
