The UGU’s declaration came after SIO held a protest march today to the UGC office located at the Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi against its lethargic approach in declaring NET 2010 results. At the end of the protest march a delegation led by P.M. Salih, Secretary General, SIO submitted a memorandum to the UGC officers demanding the declaration of result without further delay.
Secretary General of SIO, P.M. Salih said: “We demanded a date for the declaration of the results and UGC has promised to declare the results by 13th June 2011. If the UGC fails to comply with their promise then SIO will be compelled to lead the students’ community to launch a nationwide protest against it”.
Dr. N.A. Kazmi, Secretary, UGC and Dr. Surender Singh, Deputy Secretary (NET), UGC assured the SIO delegation that the result will be out by 13th June.
Salih further said: “It is astonishing to note the irresponsible behavior of the UGC Chairman who is currently out of country as per information from UGC office and the saggy attitude of the staffs with regard to the declaration of the results.”
The UGC NET is the basic eligibility criteria to award Lectureship at College or University level. The Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is also awarded on the basis of the UGC NET. The delay in declaration of the 2010 results keeps the future of the deserving and talented candidates in the doldrums as throughout the country recruitments to various colleges and universities are currently under process.
