New heads for Central, Western Railways

Mumbai : The Central Railway and Western Railway, both headquartered here, got new heads Thursday, officials said.

S.K. Jain took over as the new general manager of the Central Railway while Mahesh Kumar took over as general manager of the Western Railway.

Jain was earlier the Western Railway’s chief administrative officer (Construction), while Kumar was additional member (Signals) in the Railway Board in New Delhi.

Jain and Kumar arre among the 13 senior railway officials who got new assignments Thursday.

Together, the Central Railway and Western Railway run the country’s largest suburban railway system – the lifeline of the country’s commercial capital – used by more than seven million commuters daily.
