Asked about the speculation, Najib said the 13th general election will not be held this year, Xinhua reported, citing the Star newspaper.

Sources said previously that Najib might dissolve parliament for general election on Friday. Some Malaysian media even said number eleven is Najib’s lucky number.

Najib also denied the date of general election was discussed during the Barisan Nasional supreme council meeting Friday, saying the meeting only discussed ways to strengthen the ruling coalition in the face of the general election.
