BAJIFORUM observes Anti-Dowry & Anti-Tobacco Week

Patna: Bihar and Jharkhand International Forum (BAJIFORUM) is observing Anti-Dowry & Anti-Tobacco Week from 12-18th November 2011 in the two states. During the weeklong campaign against the social evils, the non-political and non profit registered group, BAJIFORUM, has organized various programs.

The weeklong campaign started with a skate rally in Sitamarhi district of Bihar and travelled through several neighboring districts like Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Hajipur and Patna. People from different classes and castes welcomed the rally at different locations. The BAJIFORUM team interacted with the locals and campaigned to curb the evil of Dowry System. The rally was flagged off by Bihar Minority Affairs Minister Shahid Ali Khan.



The rally reached Patna on 15th November. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar received the rally members in his office. He appreciated the efforts of BAJIFORUM and assured his cooperation for the noble cause. He insisted on the formation of local body to continue the campaign.

The rally was led by senior members of BAJIFORUM including Mr Naiyer Ahsan, Mr Hassan Aziz Amir and Mr Anwar Afaki.



As part of the campaign, the forum organized Badiuzzaman Khan Roller Hockey Tournament. Dr Sukda Pande, Minister for Sports, Bihar, inaugurated the tournament and Mr Shahid Ali Khan, Minister for Information Technology and Minority Affairs, distributed the prize to the team.

Mr Shahid Ali Khan appreciated the noble efforts of the forum and assured his support to the campaign.



At the end, Mr Ghulam Hamdani Khan, spokesperson, BAJIFORUM, briefed the press about the activities and future programme of BAJIFORUM. The group is run by some Muslim NRIs from Bihar and Jharkhand.
