Over 120 shops gutted in Pakistan

Islamabad: A massive fire gutted at least 127 shops in a market in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi city, a media report said Saturday.

The blaze, which began Friday night and continued Saturday morning, destroyed shops of the Imperial Market in the city’s Raja Bazar area. The economic loss has been estimated at Rs.50 million, the Online news agency reported.

The market was closed and there were no reports of any casualties.

The fire may have started because of an electrical short-circuit, witnesses said.
