Thales names new country head for India

New Delhi : Thales, the $16.5-billion French giant in the defence, security, aerospace and transport markets, has named Eric Lenseigne as its new country head and managing director of India operations.

Lenseigne, who holds master’s degrees in electronics and signal processing as well as business administration, will be based out of New Delhi. He has 23 years’ experience in international business and market development in Europe, Russia, Middle East and Asia.

He started his career with the Alcatel Group where he rose to become vice president for public and regulatory affairs before joining Thales in 2008. Prior to his latest posting, he was country head for the Nordic and Baltic States based out of Stockholm.

From New Delhi, he will oversee the operations of Thales India that has more than 300 people working out of its facilities in the national capital, Mumbai, Kochi, Gwalior, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow.

With over six decades of operations in India, covering both military and civilian space, Thales also has two joint venture agreements with Rolta and Samtel. Besides, it also has a technology company in Chennai to develop software for its global customer base.

Globally, Thales has 68,000 employees in 50 countries, of which 22,500 are engineers and researchers.
