Speaking to reporters, Railway Minister and senior Trinamool leader Dinesh Trivedi said: “TMC will always be with the people.”

“We are a responsible party and TMC will never do anything which will create problems for the common people,” he said.

Asked whether Trinamool would support the government if there is voting on the issue of price rise, Trivedi said: “Yes, but in parliament allies also express their views.”

“Everybody has the right to express their views in this temple of democracy,” he said without going into details.

Trinamool had opposed petrol hike by the central government and its members had also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue.

Trivedi also said the government is not hesitant for a vote on the price rise issue.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist is asking for a vote on the price rise issue, saying it was useless to hold another discussion without voting.

In reaction, Trivedi said that the Left parties “have been rejected lock, stock and barrel” by the people.

For the second day of the winter session of parliament, a united opposition forced adjournment of both houses of parliament without any business being transacted.
