18 candidates for AMU VC post

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University has till 27th November received bio-data from 18 candidates for the post of vice chancellor. In the AMU Executive Council meeting held in New Delhi on Monday (28th Nov.) outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis distributed copy of the bio-data among the members for deliberation.

Executive Council met following the induction of four members from teacher constituency, fulfilling the quorum. The meeting was chaired by VC Prof. Azis.

The VC placed the bio-data of the eighteen prospective candidates for inclusion in the panel of five names to be prepared by the EC for selecting the next AMU Vice Chancellor. The VC urged the members to suggest any other name that need to be included in the coveted panel.

“The EC Members present in the meeting agreed to study the names and assured that they will participate in the adjourned meeting to be held on December 13th,” said Zeeshan Ahmad, Officiating Public Relations Officer.

Apart from the VC, the meeting was attended by Mr. M.I. Shanavas, Prof. A.M. Pathan, Professor Emeritus Mansoor Hasan, Prof. S. Mahdi Abbas Rizvi, Prof. Sibghatullah Farooqui, Prof. Qazi Afzal Husain, Prof. Javaid Akhtar, Prof. (Mrs.) Farzana Alim, Prof. Mohd. Ashraf Malik, Prof. Bilaquis Nasim Waris, Dr. Mohd. Shahid, Dr. Mohd. Asif Khan, Dr. Adeeb Alam Khan, Dr. Obaid Ahmad Siddiqui, Prof. Mujahid Beg, Prof. Najam Khalique and Dr. P. Mohamed. The only absentee, Prof. Javeed Alam could not attend the meeting due to his pre-scheduled programme.
