Congress frustrated at not winning power in Gujarat: BJP

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday accused the Congress of being frustrated at not being able to come to power in Gujarat and so trying all means to tarnish the image of the Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government.

“Congress party is frustrated as they are unable to win the hearts of people of Gujarat and repeatedly they are being defeated. They don’t know how to reach out to the people of Gujarat and now they are using some NGO to publicise that the Gujarat government is committing error,” said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman.

She said that the Congress is also in touch with the state governor and has been trying to influence decision making process of the Gujarat government.

Speaking about arrest of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sanjeev Bhatt, Sitharaman said: “Action being taken against the police officer who has misused his position to extract a forceful statement is also being questioned by Congress. Does the Congress party believe in taking these routes to get power in Gujarat?”

“I think it’s a clear interference in criminal justice system and they should only allow the process to take its natural course rather than keep misguiding the people of the country,” she said.

Bhatt, who had made allegations of complicity against Modi in the 2002 riots, was arrested Friday for allegedly threatening a policeman and making him sign a false affidavit.
