New Delhi: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) will be asking from the Uttarakhand government, a detailed report about the communal violence, which erupted at Rudrapur in Udhamsingh Nagar district on October 2, leaving four dead and several injured
“We discussed this issue in our weekly meeting and we have decided to ask the Uttarakhand government to submit a detailed report on it,” NCM Chairman Wajahat Habibullah said.
Habibullah further emphasized on the need for the state government to take strong action against the people responsible for the communal riot which started after police firing at a crowd of Muslims who were protesting against the desecration of Holy Quran.
“State government must act against the people responsible for it and all necessary measures should be taken to maintain law and order,” Habibullah said.
Chief Minister B C Khanduri had ordered an enquiry into the incident and also announced Rs 1 lakh as a compensation for those killed in the violence.
