Islamabad : At least 14 more people have died of dengue fever in Pakistan’s Lahore city, the Dawn daily reported Saturday.
The latest deaths pushed the toll to 208 with an overall 24,342 cases reported in Punjab province, the daily said.
The Punjab health department, however, put the toll at 186 (168 in Lahore alone), confirming only nine deaths during the past 24 hours.
Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry, director general of Punjab’s health services, said that 312 confirmed dengue cases were reported Friday from across Punjab, including 258 in Lahore. Of 14,760 dengue patients in hospitals, some 12,761 had recovered, including 12,503 in Lahore, he added.
