New Delhi : The Congress Sunday appealed to the leaders of the pro-Telangana agitation in Andhra Pradesh to call off their stir for a separate state in view of the hardships being faced by people during the festive season.

Azad said here that people will celeberate major festivals of Diwali and Eid-ul-Zuha over the next fortnight and strike by employees can cause hardships.
He said a major part of discussions in the government and the party on the demand for carving out a separate state of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh was over but did not specify a time frame for a decision.
“We would like to take a decision as soon as possible,” he said
He said the employees should call off strike and hold talks with the state government.
Azad held consultations with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and state Congress chief B. Satyanarayana over the past two days.
