Kashmir governor, cabinet secretary discusses development, security

Srinagar : Flagship development schemes and matters related to internal and external security were the focus of discussions Sunday between a central government team led by Cabinet Secretary Ajit Kumar Seth Seth and Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra Sunday.

The team included the home and defence secretaries.

“The governor and the cabinet secretary discussed the current year’s plan, the prime minister’s reconstruction plan, centrally sponsored schemes and other major infrastructure development projects,” according to an official statement.

“Considerable attention was devoted to discussing the time frame within which the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions would be established in the state,” the statement further said.

“They also discussed hydel power development, the railway project linking Qazigund with an 11-kilometre tunnel across the Pir Panjal, four-laning the national highway, growth of agriculture and allied sectors and other key areas”, the statement added.

The governor emphasized the need for constant monitoring to secure time-bound completion of all important developmental projects.
