New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday charged the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) with not using government funds earmarked for development work and civic projects in the capital.
“We have told MCD several times to use the fund disbursed by the government for infrastructure projects but they never do so,” Sheila Dikshit informed the Delhi assembly. “It is because of this that rural roads in the capital are in bad condition.”
Dikshit said that the civic agency could not shirk its responsibility by citing paucity of funds as the government has provided it with enough.
“The roads are battered because the MCD is not using funds,” she said. “I request the house to pass a resolution requesting the civic agency to utilise the funds.”
