Patna: The menu had nothing from Eid dishes. The dais had none from Opposition. The guests were not from lower strata of the Muslim society. The venue was costly banquet hall of luxurious Maurya Hotel. This was Eid Milan hosted by Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind (Arshad Madani group) on September 3 in the state capital.

Dr Aslam Azad (JD-U Member of Legislative Council), Shakeel Ahmed Khan (JD-U leader), Husn Ahmed Qadri (president, Bihar Jamiat Ulema), Shahid Ali Khan (state minister for minority affairs), Maulana Syed Nezamuddin (Amir Shariat), Dr. Jagannath Mishra (Ex-chief minister), Maulana Ejaz Ahmed (Chairman, Madrasa Education Board), Shamsus Zuha (VC, Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic & Persian University), Naushad Ahmed (Chairman, state minority commission).
Most of the people on the stage were from or close to the ruling Janata Dal (United) of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Bihar president of the Jamiat faction, Husn Ahmed Qadri, was in the middle with Bihar minority affairs minister Shahid Ali Khan on his left and former RJD leader (now in JD-U), Shakeel Ahmed Khan on his right. Others from the ruling party who featured the function were Dr Aslam Azad (JD-U Member of Legislative Council), Naushad Ahmed (Chairman, state minority commission) and others. Some in the audience were wondering if this Eid Milan was organized just to come closer with ruling JD-U and appease its leaders.
