Security beefed up at AMU

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University has tightened its internal security system, so that the campus may be made fully secure from outsiders and anti-social elements. University Proctor, Prof. Mujahid Beg said all students, teachers and staff of the University will be provided fully fool-proof security in the campus. Several new check posts have been established to monitor entrance of the people in the campus.

All halls of residence have been provided security. At the same time all the students have been advised not to provide shelter to any outsider otherwise disciplinary action will be taken against them.

University Proctor has urged all the students and the staff to carry their identity cards. He advised the students and employees to get their identity cards if they do not have. Prof. Beg said that it has been decided in the meeting held with Provosts that they will maintain coordination with the Proctorial team.

Check posts have been established on Bab-e-Syed, Purani Chungi, Sir Syed House, Allama Iqbal Hall, Medical College Gate, near the gate of the Proctor’s Office, on the road leading to Dhorra, Tuti Boundary Jamalpur and on the way of Aftab Hall to keep a close watch on all the routes of entrance to the campus. Security personnel will be deputed on all the check posts round the clock. Assistant Proctors and Deputy Proctors will monitor the security arrangements on regular basis. The University campus has been divided into four sectors and security personnel have been deployed permanently for eight hours on all four halls in each sectors.

To oversee the security of four sectors, four petrol cars have been deployed which will ensure security in their respective areas. Plain cloth security personnel will also be deputed. All these positive actions are outcome of the meeting held under Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor P.K. Abdul Azis on 20th July to provide the students better facilities and security in each hall of residence. Now the decisions are taking up the concrete shape of action which will certainly provide positive results.
