New Delhi: In an indication of the growing clout of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, he attend a meeting of the Congress core group here Friday.
However, party president Sonia Gandhi, who had chaired a party meeting Thursday for the first time after she underwent surgery abroad Aug 4, did not attend the meeting.
The core group meeting, being charied by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his 7 Race Course Road official residence, was attended by other top leaders including Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmed Patel.
