Pakistan’s food export rises by 33.5 percent

Islamabad : Pakistan’s food export rose by 33.5 percent during the first two months of the current fiscal year compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11.

Pakistan has earned about $670 million during July-August in the current fiscal, compared to about $500 million during the same period in the last fiscal year, according to data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistic (FBS).

Fruit and vegetable exports during the period grew by 60.46 percent and 80.87 percent respectively, Daily Times reported Wednesday quoting the statistic bureau.

Pakistan exported about 86,600 metric tonnes of fruits worth nearly $44 million in July-August of the current fiscal, compared to 60.46 percent in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, about 47,340 metric tonnes of vegetables were exported during the period under review, and added $19.42 million in national foreign accounts reserves.
