New Delhi : A court here hearing a case against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots Monday observed two-minutes silence in memory of those killed in the carnage.
District Judge-cum-Additional Sessions Judge J.R. Aryan said: “Hundreds of murders that took place during the riots were never investigated or tried. Before the hearing resumes in the case, maintain silence for two minutes as so many people were killed during the riots.”
The court added that the witnesses have described the painful incidents of the killings.
The court is hearing the final arguments in a case against Sajjan Kumar and the other five accused who being tried on the charge of inciting mobs against the Sikh community during the riots that broke out after the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandhi Oct 31, 1984.
