Qaumi Ekta Dal headed by former MP Afzal Ansari is the only outfit of the Ittehad Front which won two seats in 2012 assembly elections. Mukhtar Ansari and his brother Sibghatullah Ansari emerged victorious in the elections. The Chief of Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party Om
Prakash Rajbhar also gave tough fight but lost the election.

“Yes it was our first election on our own banner. We did well. Our two candidates won and many of them got more than 15000 votes,” said Afzal Ansari. For the Ansari brothers this is an opportune time to establish themselves as a political outfit and emerge from the tag of mafiosi
turned politician.

“We are seriously taking up the local bodies elections which will be held soon in the state. Our alliance will continue with Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party. We will contest the election jointly,” said Afzal Ansari.

Over the election results and Samajwadi Party (SP) getting majority, Afzal Ansari stated that it was mainly due to the election promises which the SP made during elections. “We will wait for three months and after that we will take up public issues and start agitation and even take to roads,” said Afzal Ansari. He also claimed that promises as scrapping VAT, unemployment allowance, free power, free irrigation etc are impractical. “It is hard for them to fulfill as farmers are not getting free power but only hiked bills, age has been increased for unemployment allowance to 35 years. Just wait and see what will be the result,” said Afzal Ansari.

The two parties also vowed to take forward the battle for separate Poorvanchal state.
