New Delhi : Over 250 school buses and vans were impounded by Delhi Traffic Police this year for violating the directives of the Supreme Court, parliament was informed Tuesday.
“The Delhi Traffic Police has impounded 282 school buses and vans and arrested 12 drivers till July this year, for violating the Supreme Court safety guidelines, which has been incorporated in Delhi Motor Vehicles (Amendment) rules, 1998,” Minister of State for Home M. Ramachandran told the Lok Sabha in a written reply to a question.
In 2012 so far, 29 people have been injured and one killed in accidents involving school vehicles, the minister said. In 2011, 59 were injured and two died in such accidents.
