Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government Tuesday announced that the 895.63 acres of prime land adjacent to New Delhi, transferred to the Noida authority during the Mayawati regime, would be reverted to the state irrigation department.
A number of farm houses were developed on this land and there were allegations that authority officials, in connivance with some Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders, had sold this land at throw-away prices.
The decision to revert the land was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. It was also decided that the role of such officials will be looked into and appropriate action taken against them.
Among other decisions, the cabinet also approved a proposal of free allotment of a 36,750 square metre land for residential use of Allahabad High Court judges.
