Over 1,000 fined for ticketless travel in Delhi buses

New Delhi: As many as 1,205 passengers were caught for travelling without tickets in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses here in a five-day drive, a government official said Friday.

Of those caught, 135 were government officials.

“DTC officials checked 19,448 buses during the drive which was launched Oct 26,” the official said.

The drive concluded Friday.

The officials recovered Rs.308,200 in fines during the drive.

Besides, 165 cases of rash driving and improper parking, 71 cases of not stopping at designated bus stops and 12 cases of driving buses with doors open were reported.

Seventeen conductors were booked for not asking passengers to buy tickets.
