Hyderabad : Royal DSM, the global life sciences and materials sciences company, Tuesday opened a shared services centre here to support all its global business units.
The centre set up at Mindspace IT Park at Hitec City will initially manage back-office finance and accounting activities and later expand into services like transactional procurement, human resources and IT operations.
The services will be performed on behalf of various related business and service units of DSM globally with an effort to remain focused on value addition, said DSM managing board member and CFO Rolf Dieter Schwalb.
“This initiative will allow seamless services within DSM units, ensuring that key transactional activities are managed on their behalf in a professional, cost-effective and compliant manner,” he added.
The facility started operations with 75 employees and will increase the headcount to 250 in the next three years.
Netherlands Ambassador to India, Alphonsus Stoelinga, said the recent reforms in Indian retail and other sectors could provide an opportunity for Dutch companies in supply chain management.
Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, who inaugurated the services centre, urged DSM and other companies to adopt best global practices.
“Andhra Pradesh offers a favorable business environment, availability of skilled workforce and a geographical advantage for back-office shared services. The state government has always supported initiatives of domestic and international companies to promote emerging technologies that create new jobs,” he said
