Mumbai : American chalk artist Tracy Lee Stum will present her 3D street art at the ongoing Kala Ghoda Arts Festival here, an official from the American Center said Tuesday.
Stum will present her works at the festival Wednesday and Friday.
“Tracy is a globally acclaimed artist and the American Center, Mumbai, is pleased to showcase her work at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. The level of excellence, quality and mastery in her work distinguishes Tracy as a truly rare and uniquely innovative street painting talent, inspiring thousands with her amazing creations,” said US Consulate public affairs officer Anne E. Grimes.
On a tour of India sponsored by the US government, Stum earlier presented her works at the Kolkata Book Fair, Puri beach in Odisha and Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
Describing her work, Stum said that her chalk conversations speak from imagination, beauty and playfulness through imagined and referenced sources, with nods toward art history, personal history, contemporary cultural iconography, and global cultural influences.
“Perception, geometry, lighting, colour and movement are essential to my work – as much as accessing my intuitive impulses. In choosing this unorthodox manner to communicate with others, I have surely found a suitable medium to express my visions of mind and heart,” she said.
Stum began street painting in 1998 and has won numerous awards and accolades for her art. She currently holds a Guinness World Record for the largest street painting by an individual, set in 2006.
