In a letter to Speaker N. Manohar, YSR Congress party honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma alleged that the 15-member house committee was constituted only with the aim of targeting her late husband, former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was killed in a chopper crash in September 2009..

She demanded that the committee look into all land allotments made since 1994 and also those made during past two years.

According to a party statement, 17 other legislators loyal to the party also sent similar letters to the speaker.

They said if the probe has to be meaningful, it should cover the lands allotted to various companies by then Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government between 1994 and 2004.

“Such an enquiry covering the land allotments during the TDP regime will also reveals whether the policies pursued by the successor YSR government were any different from those of the TDP government,” the party said.

“I have every reason to believe that this probe is aimed at tarnishing the image of late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in a desperate attempt to wean away the supporters of YSR Congress party,” said Vijayamma, alleging a nexus between the TDP and the Congress party.

She said the two parties, unable to face the YSR Congress politically, were foisting one case after the other against YSR’s family.
