Lahore : A 19-member team of Indian students and teachers arrived here Thursday evening on a five-day visit that will take them to three leading schools and some tourist sites in this Pakistani city.
Arranged by Indian group Routes 2 Roots along with a Pakistani NGO, the tour is part of an ongoing programme that involves exposing young minds in the two countries to each other’s societies.
The students and teachers, drawn from Mumbai and New Delhi, crossed into Pakistan by foot from the Wagah border after reaching Amritsar from Delhi by train. They will return to India Monday, the organisers said.
The Indians were received at the border by the Pakistani hosts.
The three schools from Delhi which have contributed to the visit are Sanskriti School, St Paul’s School and B.R. Mehta School.
In Lahore, the Class 7 and 9 students as well as teachers will interact with their counterparts of City School and two branches of ILM School.
The Indians will also visit Lahore Museum, Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Minar-i-Pakistan, Jahangir’s Tomb and a gurudwara. They will also be provided time to shop and see the city.
