The incident occurred when passenger boat, carrying 22 passengers and crew members and moving from Hormuz Island to the port city of Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf, ran aground Saturday due to stormy weather conditions, the report said.

Five people have been rescued, and one is still missing, said a senior official of Hormuzghan Ports and Shipping Bureau.

The boat’s captain was among the survivors. He had been informed about the weather conditions but he ignored this, the official added.
