HWF organizes mass marriage for 124 couples in Maldah

Kolkata: The Human Welfare Foundation on 28th Jan. organized a mass marriage function in Muslim dominated Maldah district where 124 poor couples tied the knot. The program held at Maldah main ground was attended by at least 3000 people, including friends and relatives of the brides and bride grooms, government officials, political representatives and community leaders.

The organizers had earlier planned for 100 couples marriage but the demand was so much that the number had to be raised to 124 on the day of marriage.


The marriage sermon was delivered by Maulana Naseeruddin Qasimi. Prof. KA Siddique Hassan, president, HWF presided over the public meeting held at the marriage function following the khutba. He said that Human Welfare Foundation is committed to work for the construction a healthy society. Since family is the most important and basic institution in all society, vision 2016 has included it too in its multi dimensional activities. Humanity is our basic concern and so the married couples in the mass marriage function includes brides and bride grooms from different religious sects.


Sabitri Mitra, West Bengal Minister for women and child development and social welfare, local MLA Raheem Baksi, Block development officers of three adjacent blocks, sub-divisional development officer and several religious leaders took part in the function.

West Bengal government will do all possible to help the activities of Human Welfare Foundation and its Vision 2016 development programme, said Sabitri Mitra at the mass marriage ceremony.


Maulana Nooruddin (State President, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind), Bhooprabha Biswas (Block Development Officer, Malda), Suhail KK (Director for Public Relations, HWF), Latheef Kaloor and Abdur Rafique (Secretary, JIH West Bengal State) spoke on the occasion. Sulaiman (Hi Lite Builders), VP Latheef (Forum Goup of Companies), MK Farook Malagalapuram, Abdul Rasheed Murukkumpuzha were the chief guests of the program. Masood Alam (Co-ordinator of Vision 2016, West Bengal state) convened over the public gathering.

Mass marriage functions will be held at Jharkhand and Bihar in the near future.
