SIO demands easy online application process for Post-Matric Scholarships

Kolkata: The Students Islamic Organisation of India has demanded the government to ease online application process for Post-Matric Scholarship scheme. SIO has also demanded addition of acknowledgement to the application. The West Bengal zone of SIO put these demands before the West Bengal Minority Development Finance Corporation. A delegation of the students body met chairman of the corporation Mr Abu Ayesh Monsal here on 5th July, 2012.

State president of SIO Sarwar Hossain said, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India introduced e-scholarship under Minority Welfare Scholarship Scheme for Post Matric and Merit cum means scholarship. Students are facing lots of problems while filling up the online application form for Post Matric. In school column all recognized High Madasas are not listed. The column of `College’ under `Institution Type’ shows some High Madrasa in `Courses details-presently Studying’ section. The school & College list is not complete. So students are submitting `wrongly’ filled in application forms.

Hossain also demanded offline system for rural areas. In rural areas of West Bengal, there are no facilities of internet. So, Government should accept Offline Application besides the online and should offer Receipt copy of the application, SIO demanded.

SIO submitted 6 point demands to the Chairman of West Bengal Minority Development Finance Corporation which included issuance of Cheque in favor of Students directly, not to School and opening a helpline in every block in West Bengal.
Hossain was accompanied by SIO Kolkata officials Mafikul Rahman and Sujauddin Ahmed.

TCN talked to Managing Director of West Bengal Minority Development Finance Corporation Mr Jawed Akhtar. Akhtar admitted the corporation has received complaints from students. “We have received complaints from students. We will inform the Ministry of Minority Affairs of India if the complaints are genuine, because the whole online process is controlled by the central ministry not by the WBMDC.
