Presidential poll: AIADMK lawmakers to meet July 18

Chennai: The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu has called a meeting of its parliament members and legislators July 18, a day before the presidential election, said a party statement Thursday.

AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has asked all party MPs and legislators to attend the meeting at its headquarters here at 4 p.m., it said.

The meeting will be chaired by party’s presidium chairman E. Madhusudhanan.

The AIADMK had announced its support to former Lok Sabha speaker P.A. Sangma in the presidential election.

The opposition DMK has also called a meeting of its MPs and legislators July 17 to discuss voting in the poll to the high post.
