New York : Siddhartha Mukherjee, the Pulitzer prize winning Indian-American writer of the “The Emperor of All Maladies”, a biography of cancer, has won one of the Light of India awards recognizing excellence of Indians living abroad.
Delhi-born Mukherjee, assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University, who won the jury award for excellence in medical sciences, was recognized with 19 other persons of Indian origin at the 2nd annual awards function here Saturday.
Other winners of the awards instituted by Remit2India, a Times Group online money transfers unit, included Columbia University professor & economist Jagdish Bhagwati and noted authors Amitav Ghosh and Indu Sundaresan.
Arun Sarin, former CEO of Vodafone Group, won the lifetime achievement award for global corporate leadership.
