AIM funds construction of a school in Muzaffarnagar

Washington DC: With a donation of Rupees 12 lakhs sent today to Hyderabad based Muslim Educational Social Cultural Organization (MESCO), the Washington DC based Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM) began the process for the construction of the AIM Junior High School in Tewra, district Muzaffarnagar, western Uttar Pradesh. The English medium school is being built at the campus of Madrasa Arabia Ishatul Uloom, a well known madrasa, in the town of Tewra. Tewra is a low income township with overwhelming Muslim majority population.

In the first phase 4 classrooms will be built, furnished and staffed by MESCO. The construction of the first phase of the AIM School is expected to be complete by end December 2012. The management of madrasa will oversee the operation of the school. In the next couple of years another 4 classrooms will be built, furnished and staffed with donation from AIM, by MESCO bringing the Junior High School to its full capacity. The school has been designed by New Delhi based architectural firm of D’Zine Lab and is being built by a Tewra based construction contractor.

The AIM School will provide instruction to underprivileged Muslim children from Class KG to Class VIII in English language. For its enrollment it will draw children from the Madrasa Ishatul Uloom and in addition to regular subjects it will provide instruction in Islamic subjects. The enrollment of the school is expected to be about 150 students, with a teaching staff of 6 teachers.
