Gurgaon : A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army, posted at Hyderabad and a resident of village Baghanki in Gurgaon, has requested the president of India to grant him permission to end his life, a lawyer said Friday.
Satish Kumar, 37, a JCO in an artillery regiment and posted at Hyderabad, has written to the president of India requesting permission for euthanasia.
In his letter, he has written that he was unable to bear the biased actions of the police in Gurgaon.
Satish said that because of his service, he had been living out of his native village Baghanki for the last fifteen years. He, along with his wife and two children had been living at the stations where he got posted.
“The problem arose in January this year, when I asked for my share of the ancestral plot in the village to build my house. The plot was squatted upon by my cousins. So, I gave a complaint in writing to the IMT Manesar police station, but the police remained inactive,” Satish told IANS.
“In May once again, I returned to the village with my family. This time, we (including my brothers) were attacked by squatters. Police registered an FIR from both sides. My brothers were arrested and were sent to jail but no one from the other side was even taken into custody,” Satish added.
In his complaint, the victim said that his father was also in the Army and he died during service. His widowed mother and younger brother were helpless against his powerful cousins and their family. Instead of taking action against them, the police had targeted his family.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Praveen Kumar Mehta told IANS: “The victim had came to me with some queries. I have ordered the ACP to look into the matter.”
