New Delhi : Top leadership of the Communist Party of India-Marxist met in the national capital Thursday morning over the presidential poll.
The meeting of the party’s politburo comes ahead of a meeting of all Left parties, scheduled at 4 Thursday afternoon.
According to sources, the Left leaders will discuss two options – first, to support Pranab Mukherjee; and second, to abstain from voting.
Both steps will be in favour of Mukherjee.
The Left parties have 52,282 or 4.8 percent votes in the electoral college that includes members of parliament and state legislative assemblies and councils.
The meeting of the CPI-M politburo was attended by party general secretary Prakash Karat and senior leaders, including Sitaram Yechury, Biman Bose, and Brinda Karat.
