Panaji: Sri Rama Sene is a terror organisation and should be dealt with accordingly, said former union minister Eduardo Faleiro Monday.
“It is a terrorist organisation and it should be dealt with like a terror organisation. Sri Ram Sene has a mischievous background and it needs to be tackled,” he said.
Faleiro was speaking at a press conference after Sri Ram Sene promoter Pramod Muthalik announced that he would open a branch of the right wing Hindu outfit in Goa.
“They have provoked people in the past by raising the Pakistani flag in Bangalore and have attacked art exhibitions too,” said Faleiro, the former minister of state for external affairs.
“A mere ban will not do. The government will have to come down on the group,” he said.
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has already said that the government would act against the outfit and its members if they took the law into their hands.
“We are not going to keep quiet if somebody tries to take the law into their own hands. No one has the right to become moral police,” Parrikar had said when asked about the outfit’s plans to set up a base in Goa.
