Dharamsala : The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) Saturday said that sending government officials to monasteries in Tibet will create more resentment among Tibetans there.
“Beijing’s decision to send officials in monasteries in addition to security forces is profoundly misguided and will only create more resentment,” a statement by the Tibetan government-in-exile said.
The statement voiced concern over another self-immolation by a monk in Ngaba in northeastern Tibet Friday.
The CTA said 16 Tibetans immolated themselves in protest against China’s policies in Tibet.
India is home to around 100,000 Tibetans and their leader, the Dalai Lama.
