New Delhi : India, the world’s largest democracy, has agreed to help Jordan set up an independent poll panel.
This follows a request from Jordanian Prime Minister Awn Khasawneh to Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi.
The plea for better election management and electoral reforms in Jordan was made at a meeting in Amman, the Election Commission said Monday.
The Jordanian leader complimented the Indian poll panel for its “remarkable work” and said his country would like to benefit from the Indian experience.
Quraishi offered to train Jordanian officials at the newly created India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), and suggested the training can take place in either country.
He briefed the Jordanian prime minister how elections are conducted in India.
