After days of confusion and chaos within the party, the BJP late Sunday released its list of candidates for all the 272 wards in the upcoming municipal elections.

“They have given tickets to those who have paid them huge sums. They (leaders) have not even looked at the background of the candidate in a particular ward,” alleged an angry party worker protesting outside Delhi BJP in-charge Venkaiah Naidu’s house.

The scene outside Naidu’s residence was full of chaos and anger and state BJP spokesperson Vijay Jolly narrowly escaped a slew of agitated party workers who had been protesting for last four days.

“We have been waiting since two days for the list. After keeping all of us waiting for so long, we see our names are nowhere in the party’s consideration,” said another angry party worker.

Ballots will be cast April 15 for the MCD which was trifurcated with the hope that the civic agency, which was earlier a single humongous body, would function efficiently. Fifty percent seats have been reserved for women.

While the corporations of north and south Delhi will each have 104 wards, there will be 64 wards in east Delhi. Close to one crore voters are eligible to cast their votes to select municipal councillors.
