New Delhi : Two people, including a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employee, were arrested in connection with selling forged birth certificates issued by the corporation here in the capital, police said Wednesday.
Ajeet Kumar Dass and Jagbandhu Dass, a gardener working with MCD, were arrested from north Delhi’s New Chandrawal area Sunday.
Police recovered 537 fake birth certificates, seven fake rubber stamps of sub-registrar and registrar of different zones of Delhi and a computer, among other articles.
“The gang used to charge Rs.1,000 for providing a fake birth certificate,” Jain said.
“Ajeet is an employee in a printing press in New Chandrawal. He came in contact with Jagbandhu in 2009 and, finding the business lucrative, he joined up with him. Jagbandhu was continuously in touch with prospective clients,” said Jain.
