While 68 lakh man-days were lost in 2009-10 due to shutdowns and strikes, in 2010-11 the figure was 65 lakh, Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat.

She said that with her government taking over the reins of the state in May 2011, only 60,000 man-days were lost in 2011-12. “Till September this year, only 5,200 man-days have been lost,” the chief minister said.

“This is a remarkable achievement of ma, mati, manush (mother, land and people – her government’s slogan). This is a remarkable achievement. There is now a significant change in work culture,” she said.

Later in the evening, Banerjee made a fresh post on her Facebook page on the issue and said: “I am proud to share this information with you. Now you judge about the change.”
