New Delhi: Khudai Khidmatgar (Servants of God), a Delhi based organisation, today organised a march to mark the 150th death anniversary of the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
The remembrance march, called Yadgar e Zafar aur Azadi bachao March by organisers, began from the Red Fort in the capital and ended at the Khooni Darwaza.

Sadbhav Mission, SIMT and other organisations also took part in this march.
Faisal Khan of the Khudai Khidmatgar lamented the fact that the government of India has not taken any initiative to commemorate the sacrifice made by the last Mughal Emperor.

“Let us stand ourselves to remember this great inspiration and symbol of our shared heritage and martyrdom and feel the pain he felt in separation from the Indian soild,” he added.
Professor VK Tripathy from the IIT Delhi, who runs the Sadbhav Mission was also present and spoke in particular about the contributions of Muslim community in the freedom struggle and contrasted it with the recent narratives and their present situation.

The organizers also demanded that Bahadur Shah Zafar be suitably honoured, by naming university after him, installing his portrait in the parliament and officially celebrating his birthday.
