End death penalty, says Pakistani daily

Islamabad : A leading Pakistani daily Wednesday called for abolishing the capital punishment in the country.

Pakistan carried out its first execution in four years last week when Muhammad Hussain was hanged in Mianwali jail, ending the tacit moratorium the government observed since 2008, the Dawn said.

The convict was an army soldier accused of killing his senior with whom he was embroiled in a personal dispute.
