Moscow : Police have arrested more than 160 people after the football derby game between Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Moscow, the city police’s rapid-reaction force said Sunday.
Spartak fans booed their team off the field after a 1-5 defeat to Dynamo, and Spartak coach Unai Emery was fired minutes after the match ended.
“At the end of the match, more than 160 people were arrested for various misdemeanors by officers of the special unit,” the police said in a website statement.
“More than 70 pyrotechnics and six flares were confiscated.”
The arrests came eight days after Dynamo’s match with Zenit St. Petersburg was abandoned when a pyrotechnic exploded near Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Shunin, causing him to be briefly hospitalised with eye injuries.
Dynamo were awarded a 3-0 win by default for that match after the Russian FA held Zenit responsible for the actions of fans in the away end, from where the pyrotechnic was thrown.
