In a statement issued by him he said that it seems that Indian police forces have declared all Muslims as terrorists or potential terrorists. All Muslims of India have now come under a cloud of suspicion and carefully observed.

“Since 2002,” said Mohammad Adeeb, “there seems to be a planned and well carried out conspiracy to target the Muslim youth, especially the educated.” They have been targeted under UAPA, TADA, and POTA.

The most disturbing issue is that these Muslim youth do not get a fair chance to prove their innocence. In some cases it has taken 12 to 18 years before they get acquitted by courts. Adeeb also criticized the media for not investigating police claims when it comes to terrorism stories.

Adeeb informed that a People’s Campaign Against the Politics of Terror (PCAPT) has been formed, which will meet next on Nov 4, 2012 in New Delhi to highlight cases of human rights violations. The Campaign has demanded that anyone arrested for terrorism charges should have a charge sheet filed immediately and prosecuted within a year through special fast-track courts.
