Five people arrested in Delhi with Rs.8 crore-worth heroin

New Delhi : Five people, belonging to an interstate syndicate, were arrested in the capital with 4 kg of heroin worth Rs.8 crore, police said Friday.

Three of the accused – identified as Akram Khan, 22, Abdul Rehman, 20, and Imran Khan, 24 – were arrested Wednesday from east Delhi’s Brahmpuri where they had gathered to exchange a consignment of 3 kg of heroin.

On their revelation, the fourth accused Mohammed Sami, 42, working as a courier for the gang in Delhi, was arrested Thursday and the fifth accused Javed Khan, 25, landed in police custody from Brahmpuri with one kg of heroin in the evening the same day.

“During interrogation, they revealed that the interstate drug syndicate has been operating for five years in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi led by Imran Khan and his brother Taimur alias Bhola, who is still absconding,” said Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

All the accused belong to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

“Bareilly is an opium growing area and crude heroin is locally available. Crude heroin is prepared from opium. They prepared pure heroin from crude heroin at their village Bahera in Bareilly,” said Yadav.
