Amritsar : Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi arrived in this Sikh holy city Wednesday as part of his two-day trip to Punjab and Chandigarh and met party leaders and functionaries.
On arrival at the Raja Sansi Airport, Gandhi was received by Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur also arrived here Wednesday.
Gandhi met senior state Congress leaders, MPs, legislators, heads of frontal organisations and others at a resort near the airport road.
He later addressed a convention of the Punjab Youth Congress at a resort on Attari road, close to the India-Pakistan international border, 30 km from Amritsar.
Gandhi will be meeting Punjab Congress leaders in Chandigarh Thursday.
He will also address a students’ rally on Panjab University campus in Chandigarh Thursday.
