Jose had written to Sudhir Krishna, secretary in the Urban Development Ministry, Sep 26 seeking clarification about former Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief E. Sreedharan’s role in the KMRL project.

“We have asked him to explain why he wrote such a letter. We will wait for his reply. Till then all questions on what will happen if he has violated his brief cannot be answered. But I can say that the government here knows what needs to be done,” Chandy told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting here.

Jose is principal secretary to the Kerala government and the managing director of the state-owned public sector Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation.

He wrote the letter after he was removed from the post of KMRL’s managing director in August.

The letter was released to the media by Rajya Sabha member P. Rajeev of the CPI-M last week.

“We have written to the prime minister and the central minister for urban development (Kamal Nath) that we want the DMRC and Sreedharan to go ahead with this project,” added Chandy.

Meanwhile, leader of opposition V.S. Achuthanandan in a statement Monday said that Jose is just a tool and the real players are trying to pocket huge commissions by trying to hand over the project to other companies.
