Jaipur: A youth in Rajasthan’s Sikar district Monday shot dead his 20-year old girlfriend and then himself over their strained relationship, police said.
The girl was being pressurized by her family members to get married to someone else which possibly irked the assailant, they added.
According to police, the incident occurred in Fatehpura town in the district, some 100 km from Jaipur.
Both Naresh Acharya, 20, and the girl, Pinki, had a relationship.
“Naresh climbed to the rooftop of the girl’s house in the early hours Monday. It seems that Naresh and Pinki had decided to meet on the rooftop while other family members were asleep,” said a police officer.
Naresh then shot the girl in her head and fled from the spot.
“Naresh called up Pinki’s brother and told him that he had killed the girl. The brother found the body on the rooftop and informed police,” said the officer.
Naresh’s body was also recovered from agricultural land on town’s outskirts, the officer said adding that he had also shot himself.
